Dr. Namratha P. Hegde

Dr. Namratha is a distinguished researcher and academic with a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from KLE Technological University, Hubballi. With a strong foundation in research, she has served as a research fellow at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), GKVK, Bangalore, for one year, further honing her expertise in innovative biotechnology solutions. Her international exposure includes a three-year tenure as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) at North Dakota State University, Fargo, USA, where she gained valuable experience in advanced research methodologies and data analysis. Dr. Hegde’s contributions to the field have been marked by her dedication to exploring novel scientific approaches and her ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Currently, Dr. Namratha leads the Research and Development wing at Wegha Herbals, where she applies her extensive expertise to the development of herbal and biotechnology-based solutions. Her work bridges the gap between traditional knowledge and modern scientific innovation, fostering growth in the herbal healthcare sector. With a proven track record of excellence in research, data analysis, and leadership, Dr. Hegde continues to make a significant impact in her field, driving sustainable and effective advancements in biotechnology and herbal sciences.
Achievements
Dr. Namratha P. Hegde is a recognized innovator and entrepreneur, actively contributing to India’s growing innovation ecosystem. She was selected for a grant under the prestigious TIDE 2.0 scheme from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), with KLE-CTIE as her incubator. Additionally, she emerged as the winner of the National Innovation Contest 2020, securing a grant from AICTE, further cementing her reputation as a leader in technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
In 2023, Dr. Hegde showcased her groundbreaking work at the National Technology Week, an event organized by the Ministry of Education and AICTE, inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Her achievements also include being the runner-up at the TiE Global Business Pitch Competition (TiE Hubli Chapter), demonstrating her ability to present compelling business ideas. Dr. Hegde’s contributions to the startup ecosystem have been spotlighted in the India Startup Festival ’23 Special Series Podcast, hosted by Mr. Naveen Lakkur, where she shared her inspiring journey in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Recognized as an Innovation Ambassador by the Ministry of Education and AICTE, Dr. Hegde is celebrated for her relentless efforts in promoting and mentoring innovation. She frequently serves as a guest speaker, delivering motivational talks and conducting workshops on innovation and entrepreneurship under the BIRAC E-YUVA program and at leading academic institutions. Her expertise has inspired numerous young minds to pursue creative and entrepreneurial ventures.
In addition to her achievements, Dr. Hegde has served as an evaluator for investor pitching sessions during the School Innovation Contest organized by the Ministry of Education. This role reflects her commitment to fostering innovation among students and contributing to the development of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through her diverse roles and accomplishments, Dr. Hegde continues to empower innovators and drive impactful advancements in the fields of biotechnology and entrepreneurship.
